Fall Cocktails: Orange And Pomegranate Sangria

1. Comments

I can’t believe we’re smack in the middle of October! My favorite time of year is upon us – I live for Fall days and as most of you know Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all time.

Growing up in New York the clean, crisp air of Fall made me feel like all was well in the world – I would go apple picking every year. As I added more apples to my basket and stocked up on apple butter a smile grew deep within me. For many springtime is a time of growth and renewal but for me Fall has always been it. It’s the prelude of amazing things to come, like spending time with family and the holiday season.

Now, I’m in South Florida and while apple picking is a distant memory I still welcome Fall with the same type of excitement. The humidity is starting to let up, and while I wouldn’t describe the air as crisp it’s definitely a pleasant change from the sweltering summer. These months are my favorite months in South Florida. I often will sit on the patio with a glass of wine and a good book {also some citronella candles … the mosquitoes haven’t gotten the memo that it’s time to go elsewhere}.

Fall Inspired Sangria

This Orange And Pomegranate Sangria is just what Fall ordered!  Make a pitcher and invite some friends over to relish in all the beauty that is Fall! The flavors are light and crisp I scored this amazing ‘Round Pond Blood Orange Syrup‘ at Williams Sonoma during the summer and knew the moment I tasted it it would go perfect in a sangria – I wasn’t able to find Blood Oranges but found Cara Cara oranges which were similar in taste {a navel orange is also a good substitute}. The fizz and flavor added from Onli’s Honeycrisp Apple Pear takes this to the next level.

A few weeks back my friend Teresa over at FloridaGirlCooks.com hosted a Fall dinner – it was amazing and I brought a big pitcher of this sangria with me. I keep forgetting that I need to wear bigger pants each time I go over there. Teresa had an amazing lineup; including these Mini Applewood Smoked Chicken Pot Pies – I helped her roll out the dough and form the mini pies but my eagerness to help really had to do more with me wanting to sample the filling … shhhhh! don’t tell!  Another knockout – this Chocolate Stout Cake which was so beyond decadent {seriously I want another slice NOW!}
