DIY: Dipped Succulent Plant Holders

4. Comments

It’s been a busy summer and I’ve been keeping the kids occupied by doing some fun DIY’s. I like to keep them low maintenance where minimal supplies are needed {as well as minimal cleanup!}.

I was watching ABC’s The Chew a few weeks back during Clinton’s Craft Corner segment and couldn’t believe how beautiful these succulent holders were.

These dipped succulent plant holders are really on trend, they look great in your home or office. It’s a fun and easy craft to do with the kids but would be tons of fun to get a group of friends together. Prepare some bites + cocktails and you have yourself a fabulous GNI {girls night IN}!

I love succulents because they’re low maintenance. You simply spray them with water two times per month and that’s it! There are tons of varieties available and grouping them together ups the wow factor.

Here’s what you need:
Stemless wine glasses
Craft paint
Painters tape
Potting soil
Toothpick
Succulent or another small plant
Hanger

Watch the video below for step by step instructions. Rather then drying mine in deep vases {I didn’t have enough}, I used the handle Clinton created and wrapped it around a hanger and hung them outside with a tarp below to catch the paint drips. We created a more marbleized effect by swirling the colors with the toothpick once they dipped the main color.

Tip: I find using a light base color works best, if you use a dark one it blends in with the soil

  • those are cute! I keep killing all my succulents, but I haven’t tried the “spray them with water 2 times a month” approach. Totally trying that next!

Hey Nicole, I don’t have a green thumb either. 2 sprays per month should do it – during the rainy season I do it only once since I keep my succulents outside {in a covered area away from the rain} but I think they still get some moisture from all this humidity we’re having.

  • This is such a cute way of displaying succulents, love it!! Thanks for this, I have a new DIY to add to the list :)
